Year 4 2026 - 2027
Miss Shannon
Welcome to Year 4!
My name is Miss H. Shannon, and I am the Year 4 class teacher. We are also supported by Miss E. Collins, our teaching assistant.
Year 4 is an exciting and important year, full of opportunities for children to develop their knowledge, skills and independence. Throughout the year, pupils will experience a broad and engaging curriculum across a wide range of subjects.
In English, we focus on a high-quality class text each half term, using it as a stimulus to develop a range of Year 4 writing, grammar and reading objectives. In our wider curriculum, each half term we study either a History or Geography topic, alongside an Art or Design and Technology unit.
Children will also enjoy weekly lessons in Science, PE, RE, Music, Computing, PSHE and French. A full overview of the Year 4 curriculum can be found by following the link below.
As children move through Year 4, they continue to develop their independence and are encouraged to take responsibility for their learning and always strive to achieve their best. We provide a supportive and challenging learning environment where every child is valued and encouraged to make progress.
Autumn Term Information
- PE takes place every Monday.
- Swimming lessons take place every Friday.
- As part of our Music curriculum, the children will participate in Taiko drumming sessions throughout the Autumn Term. This exciting opportunity will culminate in a special performance at school, to which parents and carers will be invited.
If you have any questions or would like advice on how to further support your child at home, please do not hesitate to contact me via Class Dojo or speak to me at the classroom door.
I look forward to working with you and your child throughout the year.
