Nursery Curriculum                          Back to curriculum

Welcome to the Nursery!

In the Nursery children learn through positive social interactions with others and by fun independent choice activities. Our aim is to create a positive, happy, stimulating environment in which the children will feel safe and secure to learn in.

All of our planning is done around themed topics to make all of our activities exciting, and relevant to the children. These topics are planned and chosen around the individual interests and needs of the children to motivate the children to become independent, motivated learners. This also allows us to pitch our teaching at the appropriate level for each child and the children can access all areas of the curriculum in ways that are relevant and meaningful to them.

Welcome to Nursery!

We have been very busy this week learning about which foods are healthy. We decided to make a healthy sandwich to take on a picnic in the lovely sunshine.

First we had to decide what to put in our sandwiches, so we made a list of our favourite healthy ingredients. These were:

  • Lettuce

  • ham

  • and cheese

We then washed our hands and went to sit at the snack table. Our first job was to spread butter onto the bread.

We then chose our favourite ingredients and placed them between the two pieces of bread.

Then our healthy sandwiches were ready.

We tasted our healthy sandwiches at snack time. They were yummy!

We love to go for picnics and some of our friends made there own healthy snacks outside in our role-play pincic area.

We also know a song about going for a picnic that we like to sing at carpet time:

"We're going on a picnic,

What shall we have?

Sandwiches and sausage rolls,

Put them in the bag.

We're going on a picnic,

What shall we have?

Chicken and ham and strawberry jam,

Put them in the bag."
