Welcome to our Year 2 class page. We hope you like looking at some of our work. Miss Baines and Mrs. Weaver work in our class. We also have some pet fish. We have some new additions to our fishtank as unfortunately Flash died. Our new fish are called Bob, Dash and Bubbles - Sparks is still going strong though! We have been looking after all 4 fish very well. We feed them everyday and never tap on the glass! |
For our topic this half term we are finding out about The Great Fire of London. Up to now we have found out that the fire started in a bakery in Pudding Lane, London. The year was 1666 and all of the houses were built of wood and thatch. The fire lasted for 4 days and destroyed a lot of the buildings in London. Later on this half term we will find out how they tried to stop the fire and the different people who saw the fire and wrote about it like Samuel Pepys. Click on this link to to play a game about the Great Fire. http://www.fireoflondon.org.uk/ This is a picture of Samuel Pepys, what can you tell about him by looking at this picture? |
Last term we went to Fox Howl in Delemere Forest. We had a fantastic time and did lots of exploring in the forest. John was our guide and he taught us alot about the forest. We built a brilliant den to protect us from the rain and wind...it was quite fancy it had a patio and a back garden! Luckily, it didn't rain. We also had a camp fire and walked to the Black lake...it sounds much scarier than it was.

In RE we are finding out about Jesus and why he is special. As a class we thought about lots of different reasons why he is special, such as he performs miracles, he heals people, he loves us and he is God's son. We are going to be reading different stories about how Jesus is special. These include Jesus walks on water, Jesus turns water into wine and Jesus feeds the five thousand.

As you know previously this year we have turned our hand to doing some planting. Unfortunately, it turned out Miss Baines and Mrs Weaver are not very good at growing plants. So this half term we tried growing beans. Again our lack of green fingeredness showed itself with the beans in the cupboard growing quite nicely but the ones in the light didnt even make an attempt. Miss Baines was very disappointed as this disproved her theory completely. We may attempt growing some more things in the planter this half term - fingers crossed! |
In Literacy we have been finding out about an author called Allan Ahlberg. We have been reading lots of his different books so that we can compare them. We are also going to try to write a story in his style. Up to now we have loved the different books that we have read and found them really funny. Here are some of the books that we would recommend. |
